How it will work:
Due to #Lockdown, our regular annual sandwich making community event will be done differently this year!
By using the Zoom platform, we can save on the usual venue fees and catering and invest those funds directly into buying additional ingredients to serve those less fortunate all in the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy.
All you need to do is: register here.
Important note regarding registration
You only need to register for a single login to Zoom for each venue. This means, if your company/family of 5 people want to get involved, you only need to register for a single ticket.
This year’s beneficiary
Rays of Hope is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), which manages a large number of social outreach projects in Alexandra Township (Alex) in northern Johannesburg. The NPC aims to enable individuals and families to improve all aspects of their lives, thereby creating a lasting impact on the broader Alex residential community.
For 29 years Rays of Hope, a non-profit company (NPC) and Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) has been partnering for lasting change with the community of Alexandra, on the border of Sandton.
Their #Hope4Alex programme supports 40,000 people through the delivery 7,000 food hampers. Your sandwiches will fit in well with their community support programmes.
How can I assist? (beyond making my sarmies)
We can purchase bread and toppings on your behalf and make sure they reach teams of volunteers. All proceeds will be spent on ingredients.
If you wish to make an anonymous donation, our banking details are:
Branch Code: 252505
FNB cheque account.
We need drivers to help run the drop-off points and transport the sandwiches to Rays of Hope’s central distribution point in Alex.
Have skills and resources that we don’t know about and you think you can help? Want to take photos, organise a school class, know a celebrity, have a connection at a bakery or can get fillings at wholesale prices?
Contact us and make our day. All help and ideas are welcome!
The Drop-off Points
When you register, you will be asked to select your nearest, most convenient area to drop off your sandwiches to assist with planning.
From here, your sandwiches will be delivered to Rays of Hope.
As the venues are confirmed, this list will be updated and emailed to all registered individuals.
Marlboro (Rays of Hope)
Rays of Hope supports 40,000 families on a regular basis.
50,000 sandwiches might sound like a lot, but there are a lot of hungry mouths we can help feed.
FREE to be involved
No venue hire. No breakfast fee. No ticket price.
All we ask is that you provide your own bread and toppings, and 67 minutes of your time.
